Is your computer getting too hot?
A computer that gets too hot creates an unpleasant situation.
The computer works slower and is uncomfortable to touch.
When is it too hot?
In modern computers, the computer automatically reduces its speed when it gets too hot to prevent damage.
This is called 'thermal throttling'.
Some components can withstand heat better than others.
For example, CPUs can often go as high as 100°C without sustaining damage.
Since the temperature can go up and down quickly depending on activity, a maximum temperature around 85°C on the CPU is recommended.
What can you do?
When a computer overheats it is often because air supply is obstructed.
Often this is due to dust accumulation, but with laptops it can also be due to the position of the unit (be careful not to block the air opening).
The cooling paste can also dry out from being exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
This weakens the heat transition from the CPU to the cooling element and can firmly raise the temperature.
It is recommended every 1 to 2 years to have your device cleaned.
